Liveaboard diving at
Similan & Surin Islands
The Atlantis X, a 80-foot wood dive yacht, built
in 1995, provides cruising and diving in unparalleled luxury. In October 2001,
she will be completed after an extensive, three-month dry dock. While in dry
dock the entire vessel was painted and new air-conditioning units, compressors
and generators were installed. Crew quarters were remodeled and a new guest
cabin was constructed. This luxurious vessel provides 16 guests the ultimate in
comfort and space. She is 22 feet wide, diesel-powered and has 220-volt power on
board. When the entire vessel is chartered by a group, she can accommodate any
special requests or itineraries. She is also the perfect setting for business
meetings and seminars.
|
The Atlantis X
has eight private, carpeted staterooms, with a double or twin bunk and a
private bath with toilet. Six rooms are located main deck and two on the lower
deck and have individual air conditioning controls, vanity and plenty of hot,
fresh water. Staterooms are cleaned daily and all linens are changed
throughout your stay. Upstairs, on the upper level, is the dinning area, an
attractively furnished area designed for comfort and relaxation. The
multilevel dinning area is functional and attractive, combining utility with
superb comfort.
For entertainment, the
Atlantis X boasts a 27" super VHS/PAL, CD, tape player, huge
dedicated battery charging area for photographers. A large library of CDs,
videos and books is also available for guests. Abundant seating and
comfortable couches make the dinning area a natural gathering place. The
dinning areas comfortable seating arrangement and presentation equipment make
it a great room for lectures and meetings. Meals are served from the buffet
counter in the salon. Breakfast and dinner are eaten here. |

In the Similans most
diving is done from the dive skiffs. They are equipped with lockers,
tanks and exit ladders. The mother ship's large dive platform is at
water level with two 9-foot ladders extending underwater for easy
exit. The platform has twin freshwater showers for that refreshing
after-dive body and equipment rinse. Just four steps up from the
platform is the spacious dive deck with its camera rinse tank,
fountain, individual dive lockers and three-tiered, carpeted camera
table. This deck features a non-skid texture for your safety. Only one
tank is needed per diver, as air whip stations are conveniently
located near the lockers, eliminating the need to "manhandle" any of
the 80-cubic ft. aluminum cylinders. A full line of rental scuba gear
and underwater camera equipment is available on board.
A few steps up
from the dive deck is the sun deck, a large partially shaded,
carpeted, deck with wet bar and lounge area. The deck furniture is
comfortable and plentiful. Just bring a good sunscreen and wide
brimmed hat for protection from the equatorial sun. The BBQ area, also
located on the upper deck, is the perfect place to photograph some of
the most dynamic sunsets in the Andaman sea. Numerous lunches and
dinners are also featured on the upper deck/bar.
